We returned revitalized after 2 1/2 months on a farm in the rain-forest on Maui where we lived and did work exchange. On the volcanic islands, lava flowing hot from the earth cooled and hardened on the surface, where the stony crust can be broken down over time by wind and wave. The lava sand, mixed with micro-organisms from decomposing vegetation, creates soil where new life grows. So it is that we are grateful for the process of breaking down that dissolves layers of stony resistance from a collection over years of hardened emotional pain. Invigorated by the rhythm of nature, our inner landscapes have softened and become more receptive, like the particles of broken down lava stone. Over our lives, we were drawn to the raw elements of earth's power spots. Re-aligning with nature sculptured our minds into more malleable and creative vessels of service for the growth in wholeness that we value most. Life has returned us with deepened space and understanding to the situation where we previously met within ourselves some of our greatest resistances. Yet in the midst of that former turmoil, we also started manifesting our passion for growing ancient herbs that can support mental states of expanded awareness. After three months away, seedlings have grown into a verdant garden in a desert climate.
